Our laboratory is guided by the idea that scientific discovery can recapture the innate wonder that we experienced as children when we encountered and made sense of the world for the first time. We integrate philosophical reflection into our scientific practice, valuing deep, careful thought alongside empirical and theoretical investigation.
Driven by this philosophy of curiosity and exploration, our research reconstructs the genetic history of biological species, with particular emphasis on humans, using the tools of ancient DNA and population genetics. This work spans wet-laboratory molecular techniques, computational analyses of empirical genetic data, theoretical approaches using computer simulations, and interpretative interdisciplinary theory between the humanities and biological sciences.
We welcome students of all experience levels and backgrounds – the only prerequisites being intellectual curiosity and a passion for learning. Our community operates with mutual respect, recognizing the fundamental equality of all members, while maintaining unwavering commitment to scientific rigor and truth.
Come join us at Walla Walla, a location with a phenomenal cultural arts and foodies scene nestled in the south-eastern quadrant of Washington State, one of the most beautiful and diverse regions in these United States. You are welcomed to contact about being involved in our research projects throughout the year or propose your own research project.
