We are excited to share an opinion press-release, authored by Penn State Senior Research Writer, Adrienne Berard on our suite of papers utilizing ancient DNA and statistical modeling to investigate past human migrations. The article focuses on our recent Nature Communications paper, spearheaded by Penn State doctoral student Troy LaPolice, which examines the relative contributions of cultural and genetic factors during the Neolithic expansion of early farmers from the Middle East across Europe. After three wonderful years in State College, Pennsylvania, the Williams clan has said goodbye to the friends and colleagues who enriched our lives with their generosity, mentorship, and friendship. Our cross-country adventure has brought us safely to Walla Walla, Washington—a place so nice they named it twice. We're excited to explore the Pacific Northwest (seemingly the most beautiful place in the United States), get to know our new community, make new friends, and continue making scientific discoveries about our amazing world and those who call it home.
Genes to Genomes contributing writer and editor Miriam Bergeret wrote an opinion press-release piece on our paper evaluating the performance of statistical methods in reconstructing the genetic history of human populations using ancient DNA. Read it here. Dec. 4. 2024
