We've just opened our doors and The Williams Lab is seeking motivated undergraduate and graduate students curious about understanding the mechanisms and history shaping the genetic diversity and population structure across a diversity of species. If our research interests you, connect with us to explore research possibilities at Walla Walla University.
Undergraduate Students
"My name is Aidan Richards. I'm from California and a sophomore pre-med studying biology. Some of my scientific interests include genetics and ADHD. I consider myself an avid coffee drinker and enjoy all board sports."
Aidan is researching kinship structures in ancient Mesopotamian human settlements using pairwise-mismatch rate and identity-by-descent statistical methods, and examining their relationships to genetic ancestry and culture. Additionally, he is estimating historical genetic population sizes to identify potential periods of long-term genetic isolation of ancient Mesopotamian communities.
